i missed the first charlotte food bloggers meeting but i was able to make it to the second one which was yesterday. by chance everyone ended up bringing a vegan or atleast vegetarian option to eat. i was a little hesitant to eat some of the foods just because its not what i normally eat. but i decided to step out of my comfort zone and try some new foods and i have to say i think that was some of the best picnic food ive ever had, so much better than some lousy cold cuts which i just despise. not because they are horrible but just they seem to be at every function and they get very tiresome.
anywho to our food.
allison at wish upon a chef ( who also gave me the blog name) brought this delicious strawberry jalapeno salsa with some chips to go along. i always love a good spicy salsa especially for burritos and thats one that i could definitely put on one.
taylor at taylor takes a taste brought this awesome sweet potato salad (if thats what you classify it as) it had sweet potatos, pineapple, red bell peppers and i think so other stuff but either way it was great.
i brought cherries in a frantic attempt to get something to impress all my new food blogger friends because i knew they were all going to whip up something amazing but in the closing hours of harris teeter i grabbed some cherries and went home to work on other stuff. however i think people still loved the cherries so everything worked out
julie at willow bird baking brought a delightful cream pie with almonds on the bottom and strawberries on top. it was a perfect end to my meal.
for some reason i did not take a lot of pictures in general nor did i get pictures of all the food which is really out of the norm for me. on my plate though i had couscous taboulleh (i know thats spelled wrong) from diana, the sweet potato salad from taylor, cherries from me, the strawberry salsa from allison, and the cream pie that julie brought. to drink i had a blue gatorade but taylor also brough some raspberry lemonade which was incredible.
emma at the southern cupcake queen showed up late but i doubt anyone cared, why because she had cupcakes and who doesnt love a cupcake, they are essentially muffins with fantastic hats. this cupcake was the last thing i could fit in me before i was about to pop and it was worth it.
this was a great way to spend my midday and im excited for the next meeting we might even grill. hope to see you there

Great post, Crosby! Loved the nice juicy cherries!
Yaaaaay CSF! Lookin’ forward to more!
