seeing is believing

i bought a 5 in 1 disk back in may when i had a photoshoot with a family and had an assistant lined up to help me but plans got confused and i didnt have an assistant to help me. since im not able to juggle a diffusion disk and a heavy camera and direct a shoot i left the 5 in 1 in the bag. Sadly it stayed in the bag for weeks because i didnt have anyone to help me use it. but finally when i was at the lake on friday i was able to use it because i had friends that wanted to help me and also wanted good pictures of themselves. i knew that 5 in 1 disk made better pictures but since i had only used one briefly when i went strawberry picking with the charlotte food bloggers. i had no idea what all it could really do. we started off by just using the gold reflecting side, i held the disk under me while my friend jordan took the photo.

i forgot to take a non disk picture but i think the picture still looks really good, and you can tell how the gold reflection warms up the picture.
the next thing we did was use the diffusion part of the disk, the diffusion part of the disk filters and softens the light so you get a more uniformly exposed photo without harsh shadows. the first photo has not diffusion disk. emily is the model and jordan has the camera while i direct and hold the disk, i probably should be switched with jordan but this was simplest for placement of the disk.

this next photo has the disk placed over emily to create a soft shadow over. im holding the disk while jordan still has the camera.

see how much better it looks with the diffusion disk, it makes me wish i had bought one a long time ago and once i got the one i had i used it more, maybe ill just start using it in project 96 as long as i can find some friendly people to hold the disk.
this week i took over 1500 photos all at vaction bible school for my church were i was the photographer. and the 50mm f/1.8 lens i bought two weeks ago is proving the best thing ive bought photography wise yet i think, all 1500+ photos were shot using the 50mm and i took some damn good photos this week for shooting an event full of kids which not what i love to do although i do enjoy it because its with friends and church family but thats besides the point 50mm lens is the best.
your parting shot is a post game celebration after the kids finished their books of the bible game everyone ran it the water the energy was so high it was amazing this is what i got out of it
